Oh, how I love a quilt-a-long. Maybe it’s because I want to make every quilt in the world, maybe I need the motivation of a schedule or maybe it’s just FOMO, I have a hard time scrolling past a QAL. A few weeks ago, Erica Jackman of Kitchen Table Quilting announced the Violet Quilt as her next QAL. I wasn’t going to join, but remembered a bag of scraps that would be perfect for this quilt.
These fabrics are from the Basic Grey’s Blush line by Moda. The original quilt I made from this line was a disappearing nine patch. That was back in 2010. It’s time to use these up and get them out of the bin. There will probably be another quilt or two from this fabric before the collection is whittled down enough to be sorted by color into scrap bins.
Here is what the Violet Quilt looks like. You may purchase the pattern at the link here. I think the cutting and piecing will be super simple so it should be easy to keep up with everyone.
These are the fabrics I picked for this project. We are in week 2, which is to cut all the fabric. That’s what will happen this afternoon. I’m really excited to get started on this and even more excited to use up some stash! Since I have so much fabric, I may add a few pieces for some variety. This will be a good start though.
If you would like to join the QAL, you can find all the information here. It’s not too late to join the fun.
