Patchwork Sampler

Make quilts. Use fabric. Have fun.

Technical Editing

Before publishing a quilt pattern, you need assurance that it will be accurate, logical, and have clear instructions. My experience in making hundreds of quilts, years of pattern testing, and attention to detail as an accountant provide the skills necessary to give you that assurance.

As a technical editor, I will check the following:

  • Math accuracy in fabric requirements, cutting, and piecing
  • Grammar and punctuation
  • Clarity of instructions
  • That piecing and construction are logical, concise, and follow proper quilt-making procedures

I prefer to work with a pdf file that can be edited and returned with corrections, however, I can also work with Word, Google docs, or EQ8 files. My introductory rate is $25.00 per hour. Depending on the complexity of the design, the editing process takes approximately 2 hours. A more exact cost estimate can be given after seeing the pattern draft. I will also re-check your pattern after corrections have been made.

Please contact me if you have any questions or to schedule technical editing services at rhonda@patchworksampler.com
