The brick and mortar Patchwork Sampler shop offered dozens of mystery quilts over the years. So many, in fact, that I still have many mysteries in the UFO bins. In April I finished piecing a Debbie Caffrey mystery called Seams Like Yesterday. It was the perfect project for these times. I don’t know about you, but I am having a hard time concentrating on a project. My mind wanders and I jump from one thing to another. I think about my kids and how the pandemic is affecting them and even the impact it will have on my grandkids many, many years down the road.
Anyway, the step by step instructions for these mysteries have helped keep me on track. Typically, they involve a lot of repetitive sewing which is EXACTLY what I need. When I found another one in the “Big Bin of UFOs” under my sewing table I was excited to dive in.
This one is called Pieceful Times and the fabric looks patriotic. My goal is to have it finished by Memorial Day and display it through July.
Now to get back to mindlessly feeding fabric through the machine! I hope you are finding your Zen through some piecing or quilting. What kind of projects are helping you through these crazy times?
