Patchwork Sampler

Make quilts. Use fabric. Have fun.

2019 Quilts, quilting · July 4, 2019

July OMG Stars Around the Garden

Stars Around the Garden is another UFO that has aged in the bin for quite awhile. It was a block of the month from the Patchwork Sampler brick and mortar shop. I like the quilt but like so many others, never got around to quilting it. I’m never sure how to quilt the tops that have both piecing and applique. This quilt really isn’t worth custom quilting but I don’t like to go over applique with edge to edge designs. I watched some quilting videos and am now ready to jump in and quilt! Done is better than perfect. Done is better than perfect. Done is better than perfect. Done is better…

Very pretty quilt! I have seen some applique quilts with all over quilt patterns, and I thought they looked just fine. I have a friend who hand embroidered a panel that extended across the width of the quilt. It was stem stitched, and she quilted an all over pattern right over the whole thing, and it looked fine. Either way, finished is better than perfect!
