Yesterday I had the date mixed up and thought the last day of the month was Thursday. When I realized it wasn’t, I had to kick my August OMG (one monthly goal) into high gear and finish the binding. I’m happy to say it is finished before the deadline.
I’m pretty sure this quilt would have languished in the UFO pile if not for OMG. I would have procrastinated on all the “boring” sewing required for the borders and would have been too lazy to work out the corners. They were so simple after all and I hadn’t mitered a border in years so it was a good refresher.
It turned out to be such a fun, happy quilt and is my current favorite! I love the background color (it’s Moda Bella Solid in Peacock) and am dreaming about making another project with a bright background.
The quilting is an edge to edge design called Fandango. I wanted the quilting to be light and open to keep the quilt soft for snuggling on the couch and this fit the bill perfectly.
I still haven’t decided what my September goal will be. I would like to pick a project that is a little more challenging, but not so much that it won’t be finished in a month. Check back tomorrow to see what I pick!
Be sure to check out other August finishes at Red Letter Quilts.
