This quilt is one I have been trying to finish since March. I am counting it toward March’s nine-patch challenge since the alternate blocks have nine pieces. Haha!
Both the cutting and piecing are fast and easy. The framed blocks are a great way to showcase a pretty fabric or large print. The pattern for this quilt is called Five Yard Quilt. It is a free pattern you can download free from this website. This website also shows a pretty version of this quilt. It is a great stashbuster because you can make it from five one-yard cuts of fabric. I made my quilt larger than the pattern so I got rid of a few more yards of flannel. I only need to make about a hundred more to get rid of all my flannel. I can wish, can’t I?
Again, I used a fleece blanket for the back. I am not as happy with this one as I was with the baby quilt I finished last week. I am trying it once more before I give this a thumbs up or thumbs down. Look for a blog post soon with tips for using fleece backs.
