A New Quilt for Fall

My small quilting group meets next week so it’s time to get started on our quilt for the month.  All of us in the group are stashbusting and we’re trying to work through the book Scrap-Basket Beauties by Kim Brackett.  This is another great book for using up stash.  If you want to sew along with us, pick up a copy of the book at your local quilt ship or here and start cutting!

Our first project is called Sanctuary.  I found a fat quarter bundle of fall fabric and decided it would be perfect for this project.  It’s always surprising to me to cut all the parts for a quilt and it only amounts to a few little piles of fabric.  That’s it, those four little stacks will make 48 blocks!

Sanctuary Cutting

After cutting I couldn’t wait to start piecing so I sewed the all block units together.

And then, since I was on a roll, I pieced a block.

Now I just need 47 more of these!  This is a really fast and easy quilt.  I’m already thinking about making another one.
