This is the time of year when winter is REALLY getting old and cabin fever sets in. If I didn’t quilt, I don’t know how I would make it until spring. Jim and I try to plan fun activities for the weekend so we have something to look forward to.
Does this look fun to you?
No, we didn’t go ice fishing but we did go for a walk on Lake Monona. We were in Madison for a MUCH more fun event—Beer and Cheese Fest. We spent the afternoon tasting craft beers and Wisconsin cheeses. This was our first time at an event like this so we were unaware of the pretzel necklace fashion statement. Some were very creative with combinations of pretzels, crackers, Funyuns and other snacks. If we go again, I’m still not sure I’ll sport a pretzel necklace but for sure I’ll bring a bag of crackers!
During the drive the Madison and some down time in the hotel I managed to hand stitch the binding on this quilt.
The pattern is Champagne by Villa Rosa Designs. I used a jelly roll of Saltwater fabric. This is a fun line by Tula Pink that features several nautical motifs.
The quilting is just a simple wavy “water” design. The first finished quilt of 2014!

The walk sounds like fun but not the ice fishing.
