I am having fun with the Sampler Spree QAL. Making these blocks is like eating potato chips. You just can’t stop. They are easy to make and only take a few minutes. Instant gratification!
When the color green came up for last week’s blocks, I was not sure I had enough green in my scrap bin for all ten blocks. Green is not my favorite color. I find it hard to work with so I don’t buy much. Apparently, I purchased and used plenty over the years because there was more than enough to complete these blocks. I didn’t even have to use an additional fat quarter!
Not every block was a winner though. I don’t know what I was thinking when I combined these two fabrics.
How hard is it to pair two coordinating fabrics? There is no contrast between these fabrics. I KNEW I would not use it in the quilt, so I made another one.
This one is still not my favorite, but it is better. The green is a little dark, but I like that it sort of looks like grass. It works with the floral butterfly print so good enough.
In the end, I am satisfied with these blocks. In making several six-inch sampler quilts over the years, I have found that nearly every block will work when combined with at least 99 other blocks!
Now off to make ten red blocks for week 5.
