Sometimes things just come together and fall into place. A few months ago, I read the book Soundtracks by Jon Acuff.
The book is about overthinking and how it can paralyze us into complacency and inaction. I loved the book since I tend to overthink EVERYTHING. Jon defines overthinking as “when what you think gets in the way of what you want.” He further says that overthinking steals time, creativity, productivity, and joy. Who wouldn’t want a guide to give you more time, creativity, productivity, and joy?
Throughout the book, Jon teaches ways to replace negative thoughts with positive ones until eventually, the new soundtracks will be as automatic as the old ones. Since reading the book, I have tried to be more intentional with my thoughts. I also try to stop negative thoughts and immediately replace them with joyful thoughts. It is a process and I have a long way to go, but I am starting to let go of some of the old thinking.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
Philippians 4:8
Going through the thought replacement process, Philippians 4:8 kept popping into my head. I began to plan a series about filling our minds with thoughts that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. What better soundtracks could we have?

How timely that Jon Acuff himself spoke at Cross Point church about soundtracks and joy. The video is a perfect way to kick off the series. I hope you will watch it and see for yourself how changing your soundtracks can change your life.
Women of the Bible
It’s been a journey, but these are blocks 37 and 38 of Women of the Bible.
Only one more week to go. I am setting these with hundreds of putzy flying geese. Don’t look for a finished top real soon, but maybe before summer is over. Next week, I do plan to show all the blocks. Maybe that will inspire me to get busy on the flying geese!
