It is nice to finish this Split Nine Patch quilt. It has only been about 20 years in the making!!
Often it is a happy surprise that a simple block like the split nine patch turns into such a beautiful quilt. I really like the way this turned out. It is a great stashbuster.
The pantograph I used is Breath of the Gods by Apricot Moon. I’ve used this panto several times recently. It is fast and looks nice on most quilts.
The back is a solid navy. I almost never use solid backs because they show every bobble and imperfection in the quilting. For some reason, I have a whole bolt of this solid wide-back fabric and it was time to start using it. It turned out okay and will look even better once the quilt is washed.
I received an email from Carrie, who has been participating in the monthly challenges. The May challenge was to make progress on a holiday quilt and she has now finished this gorgeous top.
This quilt is Liberty Star by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts. I know it was a lot of work to piece this top, but what a beautiful reward. I love seeing projects that you are working on. It is so inspiring to see your progress and cheer you on. Congratulations, Carrie. I look forward to seeing what you are sewing next!
