Today is the true confession edition of Friday Finish. I am more of a project starter than a project finisher. Both the Sister Bay table mat and the Boho lap quilt lingered in my sewing room for some time. Once I picked them up again, they were very fast finishes!
First is this Sister Bay table mat. Moda sent a charm pack and a pad of cupcake papers in the box with their catalog showing the Sister Bay line by 3 Sisters just about two years ago. Those items sat on the corner of my sewing table FOR TWO YEARS! While packing for the April retreat, I tossed them in the box.
At retreat, I tried the cupcake papers with two of the charm squares. Have you ever used cupcake papers with charms? If so, did you like them? My first attempt was also my last. It is so much faster and easier to cut and piece the units without the papers. They are completely unnecessary. After the paper experiment, the nine little blocks went together quickly. I love, love, love bias plaids and stripes for binding and hit the jackpot when I found a piece of Sister Bay navy plaid in my cupboard. This is such a pretty table mat and I wish I bought more of the fabric!
The second project is this Boho lap quilt. I don’t even remember making this quilt. I had to look on Moda’s website to see when the Chez Moi Boho fabric came out. It was April 2013, so apparently this aged 10 years in a basket. It was complete except for quilting two borders and binding. I took the quilt off the frame so I could turn it and quilt the last two borders, but never reloaded it and finished. It only took 20 minutes to finish the quilting! I hand-stitched the binding while watching a couple of movies with my mom this week (A Man Called Otto and Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris). This is the kind of project I am happy to finish and get out of my house!
These Friday Finish posts really motivate me to finish things. I think it will only be 10-15 years before the scale tilts and I become more of a finisher than a starter. Haha!
Hope you are able to make some progress on a project this week. Also, If you have any suggestions for movies you would watch with your mother, let me know.

Both of your finished projects are super cute! I too still have some BOHO fabric in my stash! I have mixed feelings on the cupcake and cake recipes papers. I’ve had success and failure with both. I was given several cake recipes for Christmas a couple of years ago, and I have LOTS of layer cakes in my stash, so I do use them frequently.

Good morning, Rhonda! I love both your finishes. Mostly because they are finished!! What a wonderful feeling. Now they can be donated, gifted and used. The Boho speaks to me with it’s bright colors and flowers. Keep on finishing!!!
