Here it is October 5 and I am just now posting about the September Stashbuster Challenge. As a reminder, the challenge was to use a jelly roll or 2-1/2″ strips from your stash. I set this challenge because I really, really wanted to finish the Savannah Squares quilt. It is a UFO from over 18 months ago and I am ready to be done with it. These are such pretty fabrics (Moda’s Nantucket Summer by Camille Roskelley) and I like the pattern, but it has been a struggle to finish this. This is a free pattern from Moda and is available here.
Unfortunately, it did not happen in September. I knew it would be a push to finish ANYTHING since I was only home eight days the whole month and most of those days were spent preparing for a trip and catching up after it.
Even though the piecing is simple and straightforward, it is tedious to sew the top together once the blocks are made. This quilt is teaching me a lot about patience, persistence, and perfectionism. In fact, look for a blog post soon on this subject! I am happy to report that this quilt is now on the frame and ready for quilting. For sure it will be an October finish.
Did you finish a jelly roll UFO in September? Did you make a quilt using a jelly roll or 2-1/2″ strips? If so, send a picture and I’ll post it so we can all be inspired.
The October challenge is a fun one. I challenge you to try something new. It can be a new technique, a new ruler, new thread, new fabric, just anything new. So this month, expand your horizons a little bit and try something new. You don’t even need to finish a project; the challenge is to just try. Have fun with this and let me know what you plan to try this month.

I am working on my 1/4″ seam. After many years of quilting, I’ve lost it…if I ever had it lol. I’ve watched several videos and learned a lot. Right now I’m using Best Press and seam tape but still having issues. I have the whole month to figure it out!
