September One Monthly Goal

It’s September already and time for another One Monthly Goal. Where did summer go? Just for the record, I’m not one of those people who love fall and can’t wait for it to come. In fact, I wish it would never come because it means winter is just around the corner. I like spring with it’s promise of longer, warmer days. And summer, oh summer, my very favorite, when it FINALLY warms up in Wisconsin and I can take the electric blanket off the bed and put away the wool socks (seriously, it’s usually around July 4th when this happens). I love when it’s light outside at 4:30 AM and still light late at night. Those days are over for this year and like it not, fall is coming.

When I finished the patriotic quilts in July, I hung one of them on my porch. I like it so much, I decided to keep a quilt out there but it’s time to take down the patriotic one.  After sorting through some old bins of kits, UFO’s, scraps, etc. I found a kit for a wall hanging called Family Home Friends by Cottage Creek Designs. I’m sure I’ve had this kit for at least 15 years.  It’s time to either make it or get rid of it. It may be a little small for the space outside, but I’m going to try it. If it doesn’t work there, I’ll hang it inside.

That should be easy to accomplish.  With my upcoming retreat I will have more sewing time than usual this month.  I’m going to really push myself and set another goal to finish the Pie In The Sky top (the cover quilt from this book).

This was one of the kits I cut during last month’s cutting frenzy so it is all packaged up and ready to go. It will be a great retreat project and I hope to get quite a bit accomplished on it even though I’m taking about ten other projects! I don’t want to risk running out of things to do before retreat is over.

Be sure to check out the links here at Elm Street Quilts to see other quilting goals for September.
