After getting so, so close but not finishing my January OMG, I hesitated to set a new goal for February. Then, I saw the City Tiles Quilt Along at Quilty Love and jumped in. The accountability in a quilt along is the motivation I need to keep a project moving forward. Since this one ends on February 26, my goal is to have the top completed.
Since I’ve been so diligently working on my January OMG (picture of the completed quilt coming soon!), I’m already a bit behind on City Tiles. One of the more time consuming tasks is complete though—fabric selection.
These Riley Blake fat quarters have been in my cupboard for quite awhile. They are fun prints and I had some coordinating solids in my stash so decision made. I’m excited to get started on this project!
The City Tiles block is constructed from just squares and rectangles, but there are a lot of pieces. For my quilt, I slightly modified the pattern so there are 65 pieces in each 12” block! A lot of cutting and a lot of piecing. Once I have everything cut and organized, the piecing should be pretty straightforward though. Mindlessly chain-piecing while watching a movie is very relaxing and it seems like the blocks magically built themselves.
Head over to Elm Street Quilts to see what other bloggers are hoping to accomplish in February.

Love your patterns. But really, 65 pieces in a 12″ block? Yikes. I hope you are super successful at this!
